Front Steps Family "Porch-raits" Raise Money for Charity!

In these unprecedented times where many folks were feeling the weight of social isolation, I have decided to offer quick, socially distant family portraits or "Porch-raits” to document families on their front steps with hopes that it will help lift some spirits AND raise money for a local charitable organization - Family Aid Boston! A little over a month later we were able to raise over $1,600! I was truly moved by the generosity of all these people who, while trying to navigate through these uncertain times, still had the willingness to support those in need.

Meeting new people and seeing old friends was really uplifting and honestly one of my biggest motivators for doing this project. We humans are not designed to live in isolation, so even a 10-minute interaction form a distance, a short conversation and an exchange of smiles positively impacted my mood and I hope that it did the same for everyone that I have come to photograph. Because at the end of the day I just wanted to create connections in this disconnected time.

To have been able to document and preserve a very unique moment in time for these families was truly a rewarding experience and I thank everyone who took part in this project!

…And now here are some of my favorite moments that I’d like to share with you!
